National Parks Week, observed April 19–26, 2026, celebrates America’s national parks and encourages people to explore, enjoy, and protect public lands. In the Cumberland Gap region, the Cumberland Gap National Historical Park preserves rich cultural history, scenic landscapes, and diverse wildlife, forming the heart of local trails and outdoor experiences. Through trail stewardship, educational programs, and conservation initiatives, the Cumberland Gap Trail Alliance helps connect the community to these protected lands, promotes responsible recreation, and supports the ongoing preservation of the region’s natural and historic treasures.
